Denpasar City

  Denpasar City is the capital city of Bali. Denpasar was originally a center of the Kingdom of Badung, eventually the central goverment also continues to be the regency of Badung. In 1958 Denpasar started made the administrative center for province Bali. Therefore, it was time to set up a city goverment have the authority autonomy to control and manage urban areas so that problems of the city can be handled more quickly and accurately as well as services in urban communities more quickly.

Tourism in Denpasar city, namely : 

1, Museum Bali is located at major wisnu street. It was established on December 8, 1932 and keeps a large collection of old items. There are four building : The east Building, The Buleleng, Karangasem, and Tabanan building. Each of them exhibits unique collection. In buleleng building there are pre-historical and historical items (includng Balinese ancient tools). The buleleng building symbolize by the statue of Singa Ambara exhibits traditional Balinese fabric and custumes for religious purpose. In Karangasem building there are religious ritual items and ceremonies for the panca Yadnya. In Tabanan building pride itself with traditional Balinese arts work.






2. Bajra Sandhi Monument is located at the south side of Puputan Margarana civic Niti Mandala, Renon. Its near wit the representative house of Bali and Governor office. The purpose of this monument is to immortalize the soul and spirit of Balinese people struggle, at one blow dig, looking after, developing and also preserve the Balinese culture. This monument is comprising of 33 diorama depicting the journey history from a period of prehistory (300.000 SM). By knowing and comprehending of the journey history, soul and spirit of Bali people struggle from time to time, its expected the tighten of the spirit and cultural to increase Bali tourism.






3. Benoa Harbour is the main harbour in Bali. Its located about 6 km to the south of Denpasar. It caters for the local and international sea journey. This harbour has become base different cruises such as Bali Hai Cruises, Bounty cruises, Mabua, Wakalauka, ect. 






4. Indonesia Institute of Art (ISI) is a collage located at the northen boundary of the Bali Art Center, was established in 1967. The collage specializes itself in dancing, traditional music, traditional puppetry design, and fine arts. At this place young generation are trained to become expert in arts.






5.  Kertalanggun cultural village is located in the middle of 80 hectare everlasting cultivation at Jl.By pass Ngurah Rai, Sanur. This luxury placed had just 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport. Various tourism facilities in this place such as Jogging track (sport facilities as far as 4 km in the middle of rice field), Bali handicraft Center, Fishing Pond, Kertalangu "Pesraman" Cultural Village (If it you want to learn and practice traditional Balinese dance, instrument, or other Balinese culture), SPA & Beauty Salon, Restaurant, Photo studio and Open stage of any kind of event could be performed in this place. 






6. Sanur Beach is located 6 km from Denpasar city. Sanur beach was the first beach landed by the Dutch on 20 September 1906 related with Puputan War. All international facilities are available for tourist and communities such as hotels, restaurant, travel agency. There are also water sport such as diving, snorkeling, parasailing, ect.






7. Art Center  is located at Jl. Nusa Indah Denpasar. It was established on February 14, 1973 and has function to arrange the art and cultural attraction and supported with open stage and main building for : Dancing, painting exhibition, meeting, music as special event of Bali art festival is held on the middle of June to July every year.






8. Puputan Badung Park is a dedication to memorize of the war on September 20, 1906 in which the Balinese people and the King Badung fought bravely againts the Dutch who incaded the land. That date is always commemorated every year and monument has been erected for the important event. This park will be full of local every afternoon for recreation and every Sunday there activities particulary organized for children.






9. Padang Galak Beach is located in the north Sanur. Padang Galak offers big waves and shiny black sand. As the waves are big water sport activities are frequently conducted this beach. Hinduism used this beach for religious ceremonies, such as washing rituals of the holy statue and religious symbol.








10. Kumbasari Merket is located opposite of the Badung market. They are separated by Badung river which runs from the north to south. This market offers handicrafts commodities and textiles are also available here. There are domestic and foreign tourist visit this market.






11. Le Mayeur Museum is established by a Belgium artist, AJ. Le Mayeur. Its located 200 m to the north of the Grand Bali Beach hotel. The main attraction of the museum is the painting of NI Polok, a local Balinese women, the wife of the artist himself. Ni Polok is a famous traditional Balinese Dencer from the Kelandis district.




12. Pemecutan Palace is located at Jl.Tamrin, about 200 m toward the west of Puputan Park and becomes one of the attraction Palace. Its closed to the main traditional market of Kumbasari market. The place has a unique balinese traditional architecture which was constructed in the 16th century. The head king of the palace is Ida Cokorda Pemecutan.




13. Jagatnatha Temple is located at the east of Puputan Park. Its located close to the Museum Bali. The high structure of the Temple is the unique shrine. Like the other big temple this temple is very busy on the big ceremony. The regural ceremonies are conducted on the new and full moons.






14. Sakenan Temple was established on a small island of Serangan in the southern part of Denpasar by a priest of Danghyang Dwijendra.To access this place is done by boat cross a narrow strait full of mangrove trees and its take 20 minutes or now it can be done by cars area used the new access road lending in front of the temple.
